BIG Gold expedition to NW Pennines: 10-14 July 2010. Rain, wind, sun! 66 people: 9 groups and 13 staff travelled by coach and 2 minibuses to a remote corner of the Pennines on the Cumbria-Yorkshire border. 3 qualifying groups were outstanding and completed teir 4 day hike professionally and with great spirit and enthusiasm. Training groups did well in the conditions and I hope they feel prepared for their qualifying hike in August.

Conservation Day Nutfield Marshes
30 3rd Year pupils went down to Nutfield Marshes – a nature reserve being established near Mercers Park. They worked on clearing a pond of invading reed mace (bull rushes) and surrounding willow. They managed to clear a substantial amount in just a day. This counts towards their Volunteering section.
